As a chapter of the American Association of Woodturners (AAW), we are committed to the advancement of this great world of woodturning by helping all those who wish to learn to create useful or wonderous items by the use of a wood lathe. We are a growing group of now over 30 novice to semi professional men and women who meet once a month to discuss, watch & learn about woodturning. The regular meeting is held at 6:30 p.m. at Fred Campbell's studio, 5001 Thatcher Ave., Pueblo, CO. on the second Wednesday of each month and usually featuring a woodturning demonstration by either one of the members, or a professional guest turner, showing their own proven techniques. Our regular monthly club workshop is scheduled on the Saturday following our regular Wednesday meeting from 9 to 12 a.m.
The annual club dues are $20 and the AAW annual fee is $45, together providing us with many great benefits. Members have access to our extensive resource library of free-loan woodturning videos, books and magazines. Often members can purchase domestic or exotic woods as well as participate in a club "wood exchange" drawing at each monthly meeting to win regularly donated woods. A Club Workshop is held at least once a month where no matter the skill level, we all work safely together to improve our abilities on the lathe. We destribute our club brochure and newsletter as well as receive the quarterly journal from the AAW providing us with an unlimited supply of organizational and woodturning information. Area symposiums are held throughout the year to showcase demonstrations with the newest tools and techniques by world class woodturners as well as very talented local woodturners. The best benefit is getting to work with great people and making new friends.
We are always seeking new members and will provide a ride if needed. If you are interested in learning more about our group or attending a meeting, go to our Club Resources or Club News pages or contact us by sending an email to pueblowoodturners@comcast.net with your iquiries. You are invited to attend your first couple of meetings as our guest.
Watch for our ad in the Pueblo Chieftain newspaper on the Sunday Calendar (only in the Sunday edition before our Wednesday meeting) for information about our meeting and who may be presenting the demo or workshop.
